About us
Dragodid was officially established in 2007, but its roots go back to 2002, when the first international dry stone workshop was held in the village of Dragodid near Komiža on the island of Vis. We focus on the education and interpretation of dry stone heritage in Croatia through hands-on restoration workshops, research on the craft and its bearers, expert gatherings that bring together diverse stakeholders, and the documentation of both tangible and intangible heritage.
The association connects heritage enthusiasts and professionals alike – those who enjoy spending weekends with calloused hands and muddy boots, as well as those engaged with dry stone work in academic or technical fields. The association currently has 53 full members and 35 associate members. To become a full member, one must participate in either a single eight-day dry stone workshop or several shorter ones.
You can follow our activities on dragodid.org, or via our Facebook and Instagram pages, where we also share news from the dry stone scene across Croatia and the wider eastern Adriatic region.
